Buy a bug do you mean like a beetle bug or something?
If so how.
Anyone watch this on Discovery last night ?
Vicky Butler Hendersen was looking at engine oils and whether they affect performance. She was surprised and I was amazed at the results.
She took a VW R32 (seemed really healthy and quick) and they ran 3 runs 0-100mph on its old oil that had done around 10,000 miles. Average times of the 3 runs was 17.8sec
They drained the oil and put new oil in then did 3 fresh runs.
Average time was 17.3 - a half second quicker with a best time of 16.9s almost a second faster. OK we dont know if the gains were off the line or right through the revs or top end power but thats still a good result IMHO.
Some people spend hundreds if not thousands looking for half a second.
Worth watching on catch up if you didnt see it. They even found a bug in the old oil under the microscope.
To the pedants who might ask if any of this matters - of course it matters you silly billies

Pardon the inevitable pun
Good to hear!
I'm anal about changing oil on time, used to do the GT every 6k without fail! I'll probably bring that down a bit to max of every 3k miles once she's running again...
bug as in some kind of insect.
i wish i wasnt so anal about maintenance and car upkeep - i see people all the time who dont even refill their washer bottles and year in year out their old bangers just solider on and on even in winter and it pisses me right off........ i want to see them with the bonnet up scratching their heads yet all they see every other weekend is me tinkering with my Fiat saying "are you still fixing that".......
