I can get a box of Tangfastics, how bout getting your dudes to powder coat some wheels for me
Picture thread of the rebuild of an eBay purchase from earlier this summer...
Bike is a Haro X7, I never knew Haro had made bikes other than BMXs, anyway it was in pretty poor condition but worked ok and did what I wanted which was to smash Sherwood Forest to bits.
As it was when I bought it only having had a change of tyres since purchase.
Not sure what the previous owners had done to it but it looked to of been rubbed down, probably because it was nicked...
Right mess
Bottom bracket was shagged, clearly never maintained well.
So it was all stripped down at home...
One of the engineers at work had to smash the **** out of it to remove the swing arm axle which was melded to the bearings...
So measured up for new bearings and what not, the bloke at work turned me off a new axle from some HT stainless bar, also bought some 203mm travel Manitou Travis forks.
Another bloke at work blasted the frame for me after that in exchange for some Tangfastics.
A third bloke at work powder-coated it for me...
Nice outcome!

Looks lovely! Need to do the same to my tired old Dr Jekyll in the shed, been sitting begging for a rebuild for two years!
And yes, definitely agree on the club discount powder coating! Haha

Sorry guys its not that type of operation, we powdercoat about 80,000 parts per month so getting my bike done was drawn out. My BMX has been sat waiting for two weeks now, needs blasting again before coating!
Anyway, on with the learning curve...
ISGG mounts, rate faff figuring these out!
'Bob' at work used to race and has been a mechanic for various pro teams so loaned me a few antique looking but very useful tools for various tasks...
For facing the head tube and pressing in bearings...
For facing the bottom bracket shell
In the end we needed to make an insert as for my oversized head tube so nipped it round to the local shop and got them to press the headset seats in.
Then got BB and chain set ordered up!!!
Ah no worries, worth a shot!
But again, looking a lot better, good work lad!

Unknowingly bought a new BB unaware the chain set came with one...
Superstar components are quite close so popped in for various parts, good quality, cool colours and good VFM!
Big forks
Cat constantly in the way, getting up in my grill!
Clearing the gunk out.
Went with these Clarkes Skeletals just because they're green, they work well enough for me.
Used the shock that came with it after a clean up.

Lovely project there, I'll be a watch on this thread.

How a man cuts his bars down.
Just about done...
