    roll cage

    hi ppl, been trying to find out how to become a fia certified roll cage builder but there is little to no info on google. can anyone point me in the right direction?

    You're best off speaking to companies like Custom Cages and Safety Devices. No one here will know.

    I've emailed cc several times with no joy!! Think I've found the info I need anyway but thanks for the reply

    No problem.

    There are lots of other smaller places making cages nowadays, might be worth finding a local one and going to speak to their welder. Obviously check they are certified.

    That's the thing, anyone can build a roll cage to use in competitive Motorsport, as long as the cage is built to the right design with the right type of steel and the correct welding is done then you just need to get it examined by a scrutineer. As far as I can tell places like cc and safety devices have their jigs checked and are "certified" that's how they can provide a certificate of conformity to say its built to the correct design etc. a scrutineer can still inspect and fail a cage even if he or she has been shown the certificate.

    Yes of course as anyone could change the cage once they've left the fitter.

    I've been told by so many people that a cage has to have an fia cert when in actual fact theirs no such thing

    Yeah that's true, they just have to be built to a certain specification so in theory anyone can build them as long as they are built to the regs.

    Msa blue book is all u need as long as its built to the msa blue book it's fia certified
