Hmm maybe for 200-230+bhp but many on here seem to rate the standard Valeo clutch as being man enough for most applications of GT. i think it can handle around 220lb/ft. get them from euro car parts on one of their special 30% off weekends and you can bag a new Valeo kit for £104 delivered. there are some Valeo clutches on egay for £85 plus delivered but the seller reckons they are for 1994-1996 models only and after checking the spec they are indeed slightly different. think its the friction diameter.

Ok thanks for your help mate. When you say most applications. Lets say I do manage to get my punto to 300bhp will the valeo clutch be man enough. I don't really want to have to drop the gear box every thousand miles.

Mines at 300hp with semi slicks on the front and 240lbs.. Standard clutch is doing fine.

its the torque that causes the slip at the limit so 240lb/ft although relatively low considering the 300 odd bhp sounds like a sensible cut off point for the standard one.

its actually the valeo pressure plate thats the key. some people opt for a fast road friction plate and standard cover.

It's nos that will make the clutch slip.
