Hi, I'm and ex pom in New Zealand.
Just got my second Punto GT and early model '94
I had one a number of years back in the UK which turned out to be the press car from the original punto GT launch, which I bought from the Fiat dealership in Mansfield Notts (long gone, its now Evans Halshaw)
The latest is showing 205000km but has been pampered all its life with massive amounts of documentation from previous owners, the last was a mechanic. Turbo upgrade which is very noticable as it spools up much quicker than my first GT.
Unfortunately I am experiencing the dreaded intermitent missfire???!!!
My first GT did this also and had a FIAT re-write of the ECU which cured it, this was slightly different as it always occured at initial take off.
My current missfire is totally random

Do you have any pictures of your first gt?
Misfire could be leads or coil pack? obviously I'm only guessing here.
Leads are on my list, with the world wide web I tend to buy all my stuff either UK or US for my drive way carpark, as buying here can get expensive, whats the suggestions for the best performance leads??
