Before you do it buy a clutch alignment tool for the sake if ten quid or so its silly to do it without.

Align the clutch with the tool bolt in place then stick the gear box on.

If i recall i have pictures of that in my thread.

Just read you wanted to open the gearbox up, I couldn't tell you about that to be honest, Arda was kind enough to drive to mine and give me a spare gearbox.

If I had known how moist you were I wouldn't have

It's easy enough to align the clutches on these by eye ..

seems theres a few clutches on ebay that say they fit the GT but measure only 180mm. some even put them in the same fitment category of the 1.1 and 1.2 8v!

    thats never right is it?

when removing the box presumably you have to undo the drivers side inner CV, drop it off the intermediate shaft and the remove the shaft from the diff first?

Undo allen bolts, Undo hub nuts, slacken/undo the engine rear mount and the shafts will come out with a bit of wiggling. Halfshaft can stay on, it will slide out the diff when you remove the box. You could probably get away with only removing one shaft i'd guess. but it helps the engine drop lower when removing/installing the box if you remove both.
