    Speakers just stopped working

Got a basic Samsung 2.1 setup on my pc. Just randomly stopped working.

I've tested the ports with headphones (front and back) and they are working fine.

The speakers are getting power, and do that kind of static nosie when I turn it on/off or fiddle with the cables.

    Stumped??

Sounds typical of a Samsung product

Never thought to try an ipod? Can always try though.

There's only one volume for both and it was definitely not low.

Simple ain't gonna be an option, I'm afraid!

If t'were mine, I would open then up, and then, using an oscilloscope, trace the signal path from the input. It is unlikely to be the amplifier, as you are still getting the connection 'crackle', when turning on and off, but it could be any of the components before that.

Do you have the model number, so I can try and find a circuit diagram?

Is it a 3.5mm connecting plug?
