    DIY Sim Racing Chair

time for something a little different.

I've finally got round to designing and building my sim racing chair which I bought a seat for last year. I got fed up of being uncomfortable when playing Forza or F1 so decided to make a proper mount for the wheel and pedals. I had some metal I was going to build a frame for the Punto chassis to sit on but I've changed my plans for that so it was just laying around. So not only do I get a nice race seat it's giving me good practice on the welder too.

    Here's the design:

And here are some progress pics:

    Basic layout

    Outer frame welded together:

    Seat mount welded into place:

I've marked up the placement for the bolts which will hold the seat in place and I'll drill them out tomorrow.

Tbh I don't play on my Xbox much and it's a pain not having anywhere proper to sit when playing Forza or F1. Also a damn site cheaper than buying one, they are mega bucks.

Yeah I'm definitely getting the hang of it now. Getting the settings right on my welder.

Lol if I was a massive geek I'd make it look like an actual car and go way over the top with it. I'm making use of some spare metal I had lying around and a spare seat.

I think it's a great idea for a project. How is it any different to fabrication work on a car? Are you using tube for the rest of it? Would look much better imo.

Come on then let's get a close up of the MIGing and we can judge for ourselves
