It's another car that's massively over engineered, transmission fluid is cooled through the radiator for example. 260bhp standard but can run over 500/500 on unopened engine with just bolt on parts. How many other cars today, never mind from that era can cope with that.
Not with 300lbft standard, 170+mph top speed and 0-60 in 5.7secs
In standard form they're making 295lbft at 1850rpm

Evo 5 had 275lb Ft, Evo 6 280lb ft. Not far off! 0 -60 under 5 seconds.
Suppose it depends how you decide on fastest ... top end I gues?

I imagine there were M5's and alsorts that were quicker but limited to 155 so technically not as fast.
