I have seen too many broken maf's to even consider having it there. But, if it works for you guys, then I am not the one to argue about it

one time in a 8 month period i had 5 (yeah, five) MAFs, after 6-8weeks they died

but standalones dont need it
even the phase sensor can be forgotten for ever, and much easier to find the faulty sensor

3'' AFM's that we are using seems to be fine, we're still using the same one from our first map couple years ago, when it made 248hp.. Original Punto ones were **** tho, everyone that i know been thru **** loads..

The 3" AFM is more robust, especially if you have a good air filter. The benefits of an AFM based system are greater accuracy, driveability and fuel economy, not something many power hungry petrolheads are concerned about, but for a road car it does make a difference!!
