What's the scare stories regarding phone being wiped of contacts ect after update?

Birds phone did it when she updated. Lost photos, contacts and messages.

Just set it off as I switched off for bed, woke up and was all done! Nothing to rave about at the moment but i'll play throughout the day...

I really don't think they are as bad as some people make out. Got me around London to fine. Plus there are alternatives to the built in maps so for the other benefits it's worth it IMO.

I work in all different places around London everyday and for me, the new maps is significantly worse. No street view is a big miss for starters. Not enough general detail on the maps either. For example, Farringdon station doesnt even exist.
