August Nurburgring 'road trip'! August 24th -->> 27th

I'm going with FCCUK and there are various special extra bits that other enthusiasts might appreciate for other reasons, too.

JBT and I have had a chat and think we have a cracking weekend lined up!

You may or may not know about the Roadhog Roadtrip we run

You may not know Katie Green

You may not know Brands Hatch

You may not know the Eurotunnel

BUT - If you do or that sounds interesting..then have a peek at whats in store!

    Friday 24th August 2012
I have booked Brands already - Kentagon Restauraunt - and will supply food.
I have reserved spaces for 30 cars for some great photo ops.
Katie Green will be there for the whole day - as will a few other promo gals - for the females we will have the ripped Roadhog Team and some other hot petrol heads All of whom you can hae a few snaps with!

We will arrive at Brands for 10am launch party leave TBC but circa midday/1pm

I am currently haggling with Brands for a little track time for my participants cars - and would hope to extend this to you guys IF i get my time.

Then off to the Chunnel - again I have a reduced rate of £88 per car return (I have already paid the deposit for 25 cars and a few more wont be a problem)
Then we travel together toward the Ring..we will be doing a treasure hunt on route so you guys will be well gone...

So from you guys - and I am open to thoughts...

I would want you to carry a Dreams Come True sticker and a Roadhog Sticker on your vehicle - (Rear quarter window should do - website on front or rear windscreen) -0 this will allow you the reduced rate and avoid awkward questions near the time.

Considering your getting some great benefits I think - I would ask you donate to the charity before the event - again what do folk think this is worth - given the above?

Would be great to make this an annual event

Let me know - it would need to be soon as I need to book any final spots.

Your arrival to Nurburg I think is to be sorted with JBT - or if i get time I can have a look at this too - you could just stick with us as we will be camping in a decent site right next to it...with a bar and our resident DJ and entertainment. And that is where the team up ends sadly.. unless you wanna join?

We then travel on to the depths of Europe and return on the 27th
OK, my interest is suitably piqued, but are you suggesting we cough up ~£400 for a years subscription to the charity?

I'm all for charities, in moderation, but that would be OTT for a 'road trip' with all the other extras involved. Advice please.

Sounds like it'll be chaos, and not in the funny sense.

You won't get to see much of Europes greatest citys and roads over 3 days, maybe get to traverse a bit of France, some of Belgium anda quarter of Germnay completely missing Paris, Bruge and Berlin...

    Pessimists!

Dan I've previously 'done' Bruges, Bruxelles, Eindhoven, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, Nimes, Mont St Michel, Avranches, Brest, Bordeaux, Chalons sur Saune, Chalons Sur Marne, Chatigny, Marseilles, Gibraltar, Ibiza, Mallorca, Ischia, Capri, Stromboli, Nice, Cannes, Basel, Lausanne, Geneva, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Florence, Rome, Latina, Verona, Reggio di Calabria, dozens of Italian ski resorts and a few Austrian, done the trek to Sofia and Borovets in Bulgaria, and visited almost anywhere you can name where Greece and its islands touches the Mediterranean. I'm fairly sure that I done Paris before, but would like to revisit for a few days, not on a flying visit. It's a 'road trip', plus a chance at a bit of fun on one of the most iconic tracks.

CaL, you're probably right, which is why I jumped at the opportunity.

Pistonheads is the best place to search.

Basically they are completely commercialising it, but have massively cocked it up. They built a massive theme park type complex thing at the south side that cost over €100m and is making no money so they're jacking up prices on the circuit to the point most experience and rental firms can't run their any more.

    One clicky..

I went before it was all developed, big hotel and a small village there back then, only a few years ago!

Its good, but not as epic as alot of people make out, its probably better if you're a biker than a driver TBH.

Tim, i've done a few citys myself and as you'll know the fun is in turnign up and enjoying the place, not passing it on the motorway while in a rush to get to the 'ring.

No, I can appreciate that it's going the way of all sports-related commercial venture, i.e. downhill fast, but I still fancy the trip and experience.

FYI, most of the cities I've mentioned I've, at the very least, stayed overnight, had a good meal out and investigated the night life thereof, or holidayed for a week or two at. Many I've actually lived and worked in for six months or more, so I'm in general agreement with your general sentiments about 'doing' a city. Oh, and I completely left out the continental U.S. of A.
