Erm im not too sure. I always ran mine on Hard cut, mainly because it sounded nuts lol. I think the soft cut starts to kick in 300rpm below your set limit so its not as "hard" when it does hit the limiter. Its all in the instruction booklet you get, main problem is finding your negative outputs on the coilpack but like i said ive got a wiring plan from mine i can help you with
