Talking Got myself a bargain due to LAZINESS :)

Bought myself a 2004 fiat punto hgt today with 11mths mot and tax till august 2012, 35k on clocks, sh, and in mint condition all down to laziness for £250 .

So saw a hgt for sale for spares/repair, so called the seller and he explained it was very loud (engine) when running arranged to view it today and after having done a few checks had a good idea what the problem was.

The seller explained that the engine just started to become loud and so he took it to a local garage (national name one aswell) who had informed him that it was a noisy variator and that he would be strongly recommended to change timing belt kit, aux belt kit, wp at same time and inc variator and labour it would be around £920 to fix but they could'nt do it for another week or so and told him to not drive it as it could cause serious damage to the engine, he then had it recovered home and decided to sell for spares/repair as he needed a car asap for work etc, I purchased it got it home.

After getting it home I changed the oil filter as it looked like it had been weeping from it and was'nt very tight, put fresh oil in as it was that low it was'nt even registering on the stick and she now starts and runs like a dream so all because the seller had'nt checked the oil level on his car I got a bargain for £296 .

Are people getting this lazy really where checking simple things while owning a car??.

Hopefully there's no long term damage if it's been run low on oil.

They do indeed, my mate owns a small garage where he works from so the locking tools are'nt a problem and he gets parts trade as he does it for a living so saves me money to, the £926 was for same as you had most was labour for the person I got it from.
