    Finally detailed my faded mk1!

    Hi folks.
After 3 months of ownership I FINALLY got round to machining it - with the help of a few guys.

Thought you might like to see the results. I have copied and pasted this from Detailing World where I originally posted it but I have amended it to make it slightly better to read.

    Comments/criticisms/questions welcome

    Main process -

    Pre-wash with Dodo Crudzilla
    Pressure rinsed
    Wheels with Wheel Brightener
    Tyres/arches with G101
    Washed with AMDetails shampoo
Clayed with AMDetails clay and Last Touch/Z6
Rinsed with the hose and then dried with a waterblade.

It was then machined with a combination of 205/203S via DA and Rotary - and what a cracking job it did aswell.

After machining I laid down a thorough coat of Black Hole which was then buffed off revealing a nice surface to lay down some LSP.

    LSP wise I used -

Gloss It Finish on a wing/the boot
Zaino Z2 on the passenger's side
Dodo Homebrew on half of the bonnet
CG XXX on the roof and the other half of the bonnet
Autobrite Seal & Protect on the driver's side
GTechniq T1 on tyres and trim

    And the pictures -

    TFR rinsed off

Andy did a great job of washing the car, including my steering wheel....

And onto the machining - Andy setting the pace with 205

    Epic 50/50

Another one by Justin - pictures just wont cut it!

Andy then polished a knob onto my car

    Another 50/50

About the most amount of work these 4 did all day

Justin getting busy with his car

    Coming together now

    Me in my hi-vis

    Stuff curing?

Epic reflections off of Justins Megane -

    Ethans fiesta -

    Justin's Megane -

My favourite pictures from the day -

Thanks for looking. I'm unbelievably chuffed with the finish. Have since re-painted my wiper arms, and I have plans to order a FIAT badge and a fresh set of plates soon. Unfortunately being a student + buying things for my car don't go well together!

PS unless anyone has a spare FIAT badge they'd be willing to post me, condition irrelevant

Great results mate! Interested to hear your thoughts on the Home Brew kit. I have been thinking about getting one purely from an educational perspective; to gain a better understanding of how wax is made etc. Also wondering if the T1 is any good? I hear mixed reviews of the G|Techniq stuff all the time, and I myself can't make my mind up on some of it!
If you have any car care related questions, ask me in the Cleaning/Detailing section.

A chemical compound is a pure chemical substance consisting of two or more different chemical elements that can be separated into simpler substances by chemical reactions.Chemical compounds have a unique and defined chemical structure; they consist of a fixed ratio of atoms that are held together in a defined spatial arrangement by chemical bonds. Chemical compounds can be molecular compounds held together by covalent bonds, salts held together by ionic bonds, intermetallic compounds held together by metallic bonds, or complexes held together by coordinate covalent bonds. Pure chemical elements are not considered chemical compounds, even if they consist of molecules which contain only multiple atoms of a single element (such as H2, S8, etc.),which are called diatomic molecules or polyatomic molecules.

I'd say "thanks" if I knew what it was I was thanking you for? I used to be pretty good at chemistry in school! The Home Brew kit is a DIY wax making kit! You have to actually make the wax yourself with all the supplied products

Nice work there. Looks so much better. Amazing what a good polish will do for paint. Red Vauxhall owners should pay attention.

Cheers for the comments. It wasn't my homebrew kit it was another members, inital impressions v good much like the other dodo juice waxes.

T1 is excellent, amazing coverage and durability from what I've seen. Tell you what - if you buy it and don't like it, I'll buy your bottle off you. I rate it that much
