yep great cars. went to buy one with a mate in 1988. did the deal and at the top of the road it conked out. mooched around under the bonnet and discovered no oil in the carb pots! topped up and she went like a rocket.

Proton 1.3 triple valve aeroback.
Had it 4 years, moved house with it, had a custom kit made for it combining m3 skirts, nove front and rear, impreza vent and rs2000 spoiler.
Mechanics were all bulletproof, OEM bumpers were metal...so pretty bulletproof. Got written off a week after the kit went on when some builder t-boned me.
A mate of mine, matt, had an orange saxo phase 1 that he did all the body work and converted to a turbo, that was a vtr turbo tho, approx 180 iirc, long time ago. It got cover car of redline mag.and hears my lil beauty!! phase 2 vtr and converted it to a vts turbo couple of years down the line then i wrote her off pretty good!!
