And a big boot at that! The variable intake timing indeed increases torque lower down and bhp at the top. Its a really successful system on cars like the FTO from yestur-year!
The Evo X's 4B11T has it as standard as do all Mitsubishi models, more for efficiency on some though of course!

Yeah I've driven an FTO (tiptronic) and actually they are a good car in their own right, just live in the shadow of their Jap monster brothers. I will definately take you up on that Andy when I'm in the area, just a passanger ride in a 9 would make me very happy indeed tbh

The only other car the good side of £100k worth a look is a GTR. Failing that you're into supercar territory for the same performance. Luxuries etc there's some big German metal out there which, yes, I would rather take over an Evo or GTR, but in terms of cross country pace, forget it. Evo or GTR are amongst the best of the best.

As for nothing else worth a look I'm not sure about that tbh there are loads of rivals many have proven as fast or faster (even in factory tune) on certain tracks in certain countries....R34 GTR, RX-7's, even Impreza's I dare say
I know track times aren't a be all and end all but it's a good indicator. I think you have even more rose tinted Evo spectacles on than I do lol.

Kyle, lots of rivals yeah, in the same way the EP3 CTR had loads of rivals during its production from 01-05, but nothing really got close, it was voted the best hatch 2 or 3 times during that 5 year production run. Same with the Evo, loads of rivals, Impreza's especially, but none really are as good. I don't have allegiance to any brand, Honda is my favourite of all the Japs, so for me to say an Evo is up there with "the best of the best" isn't a statement without thought. R34 GTR? Old hat mate, a Civic FD2 panned one around Tsukuba circuit, that's how much R&D has moved on.
