Question piper 285 and 300 cams

does any1 have any idea how close the 285 and 300 cam puts the valves to the piston crown as my pistons sit around 2mm higher at valve point im wondering if this will be a problem?

Best thing you can do mate is to check piston to valve clearance yourself when your assembling the engine.

yea i sort of new that was comming but if any one knows how close they actualy get that would help. i dnt want to by a 300 cam if it will hit as there isnt any room to machine the piston. ( im using 81mm forged but from a different engine completely)

Look at the "Lift @ TDC with clearance" columns for the BP285 and BP300. The BP300 supposedly gives more clearance at TDC than the BP285. How much this may be reduced by manufacturing tolerances and shimming, I can't say.

lift at tdc on 300 is 3.12 so i supuse if i measure the depth of the valves from head surface + gasket thickness + depth of piston at tdc i think il have like 1 0r 2mm clearance. not much room for cam timing adjustment
