I can only suggest the Wikipedia entry as a starting point:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Tempra

Thanks Tim,i took a look there to but they don't have anything about the engine numbers, just the engine codes. In the ePer says : 159.551.0.0 - BN 1580 CARB.MEDIA.I guess this means it has carburator maybe?

    Yes, I'd say that's a 1581 carburettor engine.

Right Tim and i think i finally found out what engine code it is,it must be 159A3000 and i think there's no difference at head and bottom end from the 159A3046.But what about the compression,i want to use it in the 1.6 8v conversion, hmmmm

I can only guess at the CR being similar to the NA Punto 90/Sporting engine, i.e. 9.5:1 or possibly higher.

    Hmm i think you're wrong Tim,from what i see on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_SOHC , 159.A3.000 86.4 67.4 1581 1581 1990–1996 75-86 Tipo/Tempra 1.6 (carb & i.e.),from what they say it's the same engine.The engine with bigger CR has the code 160A2000 ,in my VIN it's ZFA159... so i guess it's the right one for the conversion

As I said, I was only guessing. But the 159A3000 engine has the same bore and stroke as the 176A9000 engine. The carburated Tempra 1.6 produced 86BHP and the MPI Punto 1.6 produced 88BHP, so I'm assuming they're very similar. Apparently the Tempra 1.6 in I.E. form only produced ~77BHP. There may be piston crown and cylinder head differences between Tempra/Tipo and Punto engines, but I can't really comment on that.

That's with the addition of a catalyser, too.

The CR for the carburated 1.6 is quoted as 9.2:1 here:

Yes Tim you're right, they have the same bore and stroke.Maybe is something different at the heads of the engines,i think the bottoms are the same,i think.Well my only problem now is to find out what CR has the 1.6 carburated Tempra engine and see if it's good for the conversion
