Erm, that wont be sealed. You need to get rid of the standard airbox and get an induction pipe to go from the throttle to the filter, located in a different place where it's nice and cool.
All you're going to be doing it sucking in lots of hot air there.

I wouldn't let the 'bloke in the shop' blow my tyre up if he's done that. In the short term it's not gonna nack anything but you'll not be filtering some of the ait going into the engine. It's far from ideal.
