    Question

this is an interesting question because iv seen a couple of euro gts running the airbox with huge power (285 bhp) so to simply say a cone filter is better is not the deffinate answer in my eyes maybe the airbox isnt as bad as everyone on here thinks

Air box is fine.. I've also seen this and you will see another Gt but one in england produce over 300hp with an air box

Airbox is fine, it's not like it won't work but I would be imagine it would be strangleing (sp?) the turbo a bit at that much booooooost. A few of the FRS lads have changed from the smallish Gen2 cone filter to a larger one and gained a psi or two of boost FWIW Changing from airbox to Gen2 kit on mine made a fair bit of difference too, I gained 1psi of booosts. Even if you don't gain anything power wise a less restrictive airbox will mean the turbo won't have to work as hard.

Boooring, this rumour has been going around for literally years now!

An airbox could be better than an open filter indeed, but neither the stock airbox and pipe or the Simota one...

You have an intercooler... best thing to do is fit some larger smoother pipework and turbo intake pipe with a good filtering filter to remove restrictions and turbulence etc.

I can understand in Motorsport applications using an air box but not on the road in the UK. It doesn't get that hot, you can utilise good airflow air access to the engine bay to reduce or get rid of heatsoak...
