    polished lip

    hi guys,
at the moment im thinking of re furbishing my wheels

    schmidt modernline revolution 8 x 15.

now they have a polished lip, an aluminium one from what i can guess.. not painted ..

now im thinkin of spraying them candy teal blue with a polished lip.

whats the best way doing this? (for the polished lip)

and once polished what's best to do to make it last for long?

any pics or how to's would be perfect

mask it all off so it doesnt damage the lip, in terms of protection you'd need to use some wheel sealant, basically it will stop contaminants and brake dust sticking to the wheels. Poorboys wheel sealant is pretty good, i also use meguiars nxt gen polysh its pretty good stuff brilliant for wheels and exhausts.

You are correct, it wouldn't be enough.

    Polish the lip,
Mask and paint the inner section your colour,
Unmask and clear lacquer all the rim.

Polishing wouldn't last two minutes out in the elements, although your elements are drier than the UK's rain.
I've polished motorcycle parts and the first time I've ridden in the rain, the shiney surface has been destroyed by water marks. Once polished again and lacquered they looks as good as new to this day.

so i should polish it and lacquer the lip?

i thought about tha but said that maybe it wouldnt look so good? or?
that would be perfect if possible..

as same happened to me.. i spent 4 hours polishing and stuff.. and after the first rain all the shine and stuff just was past already!
