What was the 450D set up to dan? should have been AV mode in that situation I think Some pictures aren't well balanced.

I presume you use Adobe Camera RAW to edit them? I used to use AV a lot on my 550D in some situations its better than manual. I miss my 550D badly and now I'm saving to get a 7D in summer with a sigma 10-20mm

I used to watch this a lot but it vanished of tele a year or so ago. Iv got some old videos from the 80 when Dennis Anderson used to run Grave Digger and Big Foot used to be about!
