Lol ben it doesnt matter what type of cabling is used its kind of an unnessary question, all ethernet cables do the same job but have different charateristics, they cant trace details via the cable. Usually monitoring tools are located within the server room depending what tools they are using for monitioring yes they can monitor if your on the web, but it usually doesnt flag unless you are taking the piss or using alot of bandwidth and causing network traffic etc....
So in summary then, as all this IT speak is uber-geeky, it's worse than me boring you about which microfibre cloths to use etc.. the best thing you can do Dan, is petrol bomb the server room after you've been looking at teh p0rn..
lol!
I probably know more about computers and the internet than anybody else there! I'll stick to my 3G then as tbh i get a bang on connection at my desk anyway.
I was enquiring out of interest but also using trillian on my computer too, and networking it through my phone also. Ive been on bits and bobs of stuff but i imagine id only get an arse-hole-ing if i was on the same thing all the time, i have a shite load of tabs open all the time looking up stuff for work and customers etc. It'll be reet!
Heres a question then! What if say, i was using the app store or using the internet via IM etc on my iphone, can that come up as an OBVIOUS use to anyone just looking at some logs?
If you are browsing on your iPhone on their wireless then they will be able to see that the device is connected, whether they can tell its your depends on a number of things such as:
Is it called Dan's iPhone in iTunes?
They know your iPhones MAC address
They see you using it
With regards to browsing from your work PC, that all depends on the IT infrastructure, such as proxy setup, ISA, web-filtering, etc.
There's normally an IT policy section in your contract.
Ben I'm sorry but wtf?!
Are you just saying random technical words that make no sense in the hope of sounding smart?
