Are you getting spark?
Have you had the immobiliser removed?
Hey all,
I know it may not be a problem everyone can help with, but have posted on fccuk and though I would try here also
Got me engine all in and everything is ready for the go, but having problems getting the bugger to start. It will turn over, for max of 4 seconds, then just cuts out. Turn the key off, try again and its the same thing
I have fitted a new battery to it today, just incase it wasnt powerful enough, but its still the same
Fuel is getting the the engine, that i know
Im deprate for a solution as want it ready, taxd and mot'd for AI on 30th
Thanks in advance
Ben

Punto Gt no more!
Yep, immo off chip fitted, unless I've fitted it round the wrong way :S
Havnt checkd spark yet as that should affect the starter motor should it?
did you change the timing belt?
could be lack of power getting to the starter? you did use thick enough wire as if it was to thin it might overheat.
have you tried a direct feed to the starter?
Saying that, I did change the junction box where the power cables meet, ill move it around and see what happens. Im using 4awg from battery in the boot and the standard wirring from the coupe loom, so dout overheating would be an issue, but i will look into it
is it trying to start or do you mean the starters working for 4 sec then stopping
hmmm, i would crank it over a few times then feel the main live to it if it feels ok, do the same and check the earth
if there ok i would say the starters packing up but i would check the lives at the starter see if the solinoid live is breaking down, i might have a starter if it end's up bing the starter
