Lol Todd I will get that video up when I get my brother to race that one of the lights... That civic is near 280bhp it's been heavily modded.

Civic sounds crap though. Some clown's just stuck a piece of narrow scaffolding on it by the sounds of things!
But the Punto's a 1.4 (Ardas if fully loaded up aswell interior wise) that civic's has a bigger engine and was fully stripped.

Civic type R's 90% of the time are slow as anything. I had one get lairy through dartford tunnel with me. Stupid exhaust system (Even thoe i still out sounded him when i booted it ) dont know about other mods but it booted it, a good second or so before i did and i just drove past him.

Heavially modded there fast cars dont get me wrong but other than that there slow. One of few jap cars i really dislike

What Matt said is that around the corners (not in a Punto owners vocab I appreciate that) a CTR would muller a Punto, even if that Punto was quicker in a straight line. There's no arguing Puntos can be made very quick on a straight road, but so can any car. Honda's Type-R FWD chassis have always been very good. Straight lines get boring, fast.

Hmm iv always said its the driver that makes a car fast around a corner. My brothers driven my car a couple of times, he knows how to drive, he got my punto doing things i wouldnt even bother trying!

Civic's may always be quicker round a corner no matter how you can drive a punto but if you know how, you could get one round a bend not to far off a civic!

You are in part right, but take two fairly good drivers; the driver of the Punto will find the limits of the car very quickly indeed and the CTR will just lose it. My blue one was was "okay" with Spax RSX and the rear Eibach ARB (massive improvement, best mod by far after coilovers) but the FRS is on a whole different planet and even my Mk6.5 Fiesta Zetec-S is handles much, much better than either of my Puntos ever did.

Fords have always handled well, imo anyway. Brother swears by his escort rst. Adamant he will beat my punto lol. Even thoe i can sit next to him at half throttle XD he hates it but then yeah he beats mine hands down round the corners.
Just my veiw on the civics is there so highly rated yet, there really not much good for the hype they have imo!

As we're talking corners, how does 100mph+ entry speeds into a corner sound with a 200 and a good driver

Oh and Billy I'm gonna steal your brothers rst

Billy, a Punto GT is out of it's league with a civic type r. A GT is a straight line hero, always has been. Take a heavily tuned Punto and put it on the track with a CTR with breathing mods, and the Punto will hang it's head in shame at the end of the lap. Wait til my car is back on the road, then I'll show you the 'correct' way to take corners

Unless that Civic was a 2.4ltr stroker, fully Toda cammed up, throttle bodies, complete with KPro and all other associated breathing/exhaust mods, there's no way on gods green earth it was nearly 280hp. Unless you class 240hp as "nearly" 280?

In N/A format, they struggled to get above 240hp. You need to do a lot of work on them. Increase the capacity, throttle bodies and all that. If it was supercharged (which it wasn't) then it'd be anything from 280-340hp, and it would demolish a 240hp GT due to better gearing, linear power curve, increased torque etc.

It's likely that it had some crower cams, spoon exhaust, decat, and an improved exhaust manifold, with some sort of enclosed filter - in this instance, it'd be 230-240hp. Stripped out it would weigh 1100kg. A GT with a full interior is 1000kg. Then it depends if the driver is 100kg like me, or just 55kg like Superdan, as that makes a difference to the power-to-weight ratio. So when you see them accelerate side by side, there isn't a great deal in it. Similar power, but GT slightly lighter, hence why it was quicker. If it was 280hp, the Civic would have won.

Oh, and if you think Fords handle well, I turned 2 (yes, two) mk1 Focus RS' inside out at Donington Park in my Integra. They couldn't live with me, and I wouldn't exactly say I was on the limit either, as I'd only had the car 6 weeks and it was the first opportunity for me to learn more about it! Best thing you can do IMO, trackdays, especially when you get a new car, helps you learn them quicker in a safe environment.
