    Alfa's.

As im not having much luck finding the 'perfect GT', ive been looking at something a bit more luxurious. Ive been looking at Alfa's- the GT and the 149.
Has anyone had any experience with these? I know there are a few lads on here who work for Alfa, and a few who own Alfa's!

Ive heard way too many horror storys and what a few things like dodgey wiring cleared up. Obviously its Italian so im not expecting 100% reliability....

    Cheers, Mark!

I had an Alfa GT JTDm for just under a year. Specced up with pretty much everything. Nice car to drive, very comfortable, quick enough for daily driving. Didn't have a single issue, everything worked perfectly. Wrote it off LOL.

I'd have another but I wanted something a bit cheaper to run so replaced it with a Mk6.5 Fiesta Zetec-S TDCI.

    Cheers!

Ive had a quick search- its like anything though- enthusiasts on forums will always have a biased view!

Have a look on AlfaOwner. You will find common problems regardless of bias. There are no major issues with the model though as far as I can remember. They are well screwed together these days too.

    I just replaced my GT with a 156 V6.
So far, ive gotta say theyre amazing cars to drive... Not as torquey as the GT but so incredibly smooth and easy to drive, recommended

My mam has had a GTV 16v for two years, she's done more than 60k in it and it's never let her down.
Apart from the regular maintenance all it's needed it a wheel bearing and the door lock sorting out.

She only paid 1400 quid for it, would reccomend to anyone.

you're not a real car enthusiast unless you have owned an alfa.

sure some of the older ones have their faults but the newer ones are just as well built and reliable as all the other cars on the market.

I personally want a really old classic one for my next project, problems an all, it's what gives them character.

    go for it!
