    Combustion cbamber

    Hi all today i discovered that there is oil in the chamber or my sporting mk1 and would like to no how this would get in there also the plugs were covered in oil aswell thanks matty

    the oil travels to head from the engine block via the head gasket. if the head gasket has gone between the oil channel the cyclinder oil will be pulled in to the cyclinder giving the problem you have

    O rite is they anyother reasons y oil will be in the chambers ?

    i always thought that damaged pistons would cause oil on the plugs

    Could be the rings or valve seals most likely. Must be psychic to know it's HG! Could be though, or it could be a bust piston but you'd probably know about that!

    you say it dont run right? even if oil is in pistons, it should still run.

    i think you need to get it running before scrapping the engine.

    one of my old sportings used to get oily plugs, never knew why, but it ran fine, just smoked a bit.

    yeah i had oily plugs on my old gt and turned out to be valve stem seals
