I'm hoping to keep the weight of the car under 500kg. It shoud be pretty close to that by the time I've added the IC, turbo, pipework, dry sump, etc.

    Here's the victim:

It's an Lotus Seven Replica. Currently fitted with a 126bhp Fireblade engine.

The replacement hayabusa engine with the GT3076. I'm going to have to fabricate the turbo kit as I want it to fit under the bonnet and use a single throttle body.

Crank and gearbox. The engine only had 1700 miles on it, so everything was nice and fresh.

    Cylinder barrel cleaned up

    Crank case cleaned up

    New oil pickup wired in.

    Dry Sump installed.

    Wossner rods.

Uprated oil gear to give the oil pressure a boost.

    Wossner pistons and ARP studs.

Head back on with a 0.080 spacer plate to help lower the compression.

Adjustable cam sprockets pressed onto the cam shafts and tack welded.

    Engine Built.

    Next job..

    Fab the manifold.

This puts things into prospective lol

Let's assume 40:60 F:R weight split (under acceleration), giving about 3000 N on the rear axle.

Let's assume some pretty sticky tyres giving 1.4 mu - that gives you a max tractive effort of 4200 N.

500 bhp is about 375 kW. 375000 ÷ 4200 = 89 m/s - the maximum speed at which that power will give you that tractive effort.

Translated, that means that this car (at max power rpm) will spin its wheels in the dry at any speed up to 200 mph, pretty much on the nose.

    :wack: :sxoc: :notworthy

Are you going to fit a Chaparral-style suction fan?
and this just made me chuckle

To be fair, motorbikes have had 1000hp per tonne for the past few years and they've never made the world stop rotating on it's axis. It's just the usual car forum hype, but still funny to read nonetheless. It'll be a beast when it's finished
