Google maps planner is free. It uses gps to pin point your location. pretty handy but doesnt shout out the directions like a tomtom.
Chaps
Im away working in france at the moment and want to head off to LeMans for the truck racing tonight!
I have the I phone 4 on Vodafone UK and was wondering what the best cheapest sat nav is for it ?
Or should i just rock out on TOMTOM ?
What are you using ? feedback ?
Other option is to plan the route on google maps and follow it but will this cost me money or is it gps ?
I have no idea how it works !
Cheers
Mike

the map app on the phone is free and will show you the route and keep up with your position like a satnav but as Dave said it won't shout directions at you.
Either will probably end up costing you a fair bit of money using data roaming though as it will need to download the map of where you are and uses 3G / signal to keep up with your position.
I will download tomtom then as its £40 and then its all free!

p.s apple will be blocking all jailbroken handsets soon
A friend of mine works for apple and he told me to clear it just incase. Appr they can view what people are running even though your email linked to the phone etc. Google hotmail and thing thats pushed facebook etc logs your IMEI number this way they can work out with you are running 3rd+apps.
No one will be fined but your have a blocked IMEI number to any network and thats world wide !!
all myth, i am living proof.
as above! i've been jailbreaking my iphones ever since the 1st one was released, i'll believe it when i see it
apple also say jailbreaking causes the phone to become "unstable" ...yeh right
