Two bolts for the upper alternator bracket to water pump, maybe. Long, pivot bolt and adjuster clamping bolt for alternator itself.

The bracket you are talking about is for the power steering pump, i know exactly where you mean.
Unto the long bolt through it with a 15mm spanner and a 15mm socket on a ratchet. remove the bolt. You should then be able to get at the 2 bolts holding the bracket to the head. They should be 13mm (mine are 12mm) you will probably need to use a very short extension bar to get in on the bottom bolt.
Once thats off you should just have enough space to get a spanner on the nut holding the manifolds in place
i can send you pictures of how to repair yours if you like i took some when i did mine the other week
any joy or stil struggling?
Not touched Gt again yet. Ive got my van anyway and not missing the fuel spending on GT lol
for a relative newbie like me removing the alternator off the engine when it was out of the car was painful enough. removal when its in situ must be damn awkward....you need tiny arms.
best to leave some jobs for a day or two anyway if youre up against it. go back to it fresh and have another bash. the long 5" bolt under the alternator can be a pig to remove. if you can get a 15mm (or is it 17?) socket on the drivers side end of it keep turning it but hold the rachet to one side rather than central to try and grip the bolt head and slowly turn the bolt out towards the drivers side. you need a spanner or socket ont he nut at the other end. a gentle tap with a rubber mallet will probably be needed to free it off.
