TBH, I think those puposes would be better served by e-mail, mobile 'phone/text or "social networking" sites, once people trust each other enough to exchange those details. Too many forms of communication are difficult to manage efficiently and I prefer having a record, instantly accessible in local copy form, without requiring an Internet connection. But that's just me. In some ways, trying to be "all things to all people" detracts from the primary purposes of the forum and Club.
Tim would you have any objections to a trial of this though, I am a firm believer of "you never know until you try"
I understand it isnt for everyone, but I dont mind setting one up and running it as a trial for those that would be interested.
If people dont want it fair enough I wont bother wasting my time on it. (Im not being arsey btw I am quite happy how this thread has been constructive in all respects)

I think if you put a chat room on here, people will post on the forum even less.
I think it would be a good idea to members only because I would not just add some one on msn to chat to or face book but I would chat to peeps on here and a quicker way to get replys

it sounds good to me, i cant see people posting less, i rarely post atm, simply cant be bothered cos not alot is happening tbh and iv not even touched my puntos in like 3 months...
but if there was a chat bit then id use it and i reckon so would other people.
