You cant catagorically say Airfields are better then a proper track. You've probably never been on a track if thats the case...
Both probably have pros and cons.
Problem is a GT will be shagged after 15minutes of track abuse.
you dont need insurance, you sign a disclaimer. airfield days are better more organised than castle combe and cheeper and open pit, look on motorsport events

Ha ha i'll vouch for brakes being shagged within 15 minutes that would be my main concern with a GT doing a whole trackday. Any track thats sort of central-ish will be a good idea. I dont mind the travelling as it'll cost me **** all to drive up, batter my Derv all day and drive home again
Donnington would be ****ign prime time if and when its open, great track thats pleasing to experianced but not to technical for amatures.
GT brakes are caked in 15minutes, so you need to consider this if on stock calipers. Obviously this is where big brakes help or fast road pads and discs.
Did Donnington an age ago and had to drive very carefully home as the brakes were shot to ****. You'd be surprised, you can get carried away and before you know it, no stopping power
iv been on loads of track days, the action days at castle combe are just dangerous. properly organised ones there are much better.
obviously they have pros and cons but i find i can push much harder on an airfield track day as theres a lot more run off, and no armco to hit, and less idiot drivers that crash all the time.
not in a gt.
Your meant to enjoy yourself, not push the car and stack it into the armco.
Cadwells good for run off, only the Goosenecks game over if you slip off. Anyway...
Your going to get bell ends on any track day, fact.
Im a member of a very friendly track day club in Sussex. I have arounf #300 a month coming out at the moment
