Yup, that's basically what the IMEI is for, as i said you can can get round it (can change the phones IMEI) but it's illegal.

It was sat behind the bar for 2 weeks and no one came in for it, his boss said he could have it. At the end of the day if your dumb enough to lose one you shouldnt have it in the first place

Or insurance and just got another one on next day delivery...

The phones IMEI would of been disabled by the network as soon as it was switched back on.
