Plug and play arent they?
I have 3 of them (huge amounts of man material)
Freecom and Western Digital (x2), but great.
clever chaps and chapettes of psc,
I am in need of an external hard drive, however, it needs to be easily transferable between my windows pc and my macbook.
to start with, can this be done, is it easy, and are there any recomendations?!

not from what i have understood.
that doesnt make much sense. so if i format it in FATs, both my mac and my pc will be able to read and write to the drive??
its not that easy is it??
I work in a data centre i'll pass this question around via email, there should be someone here that knows the answer
Ive never had a MAC so im unsure, but to format it to FAT is easy to do and i know it is readable on windows.
ok, cheers.
Thanks Chet, that would be hugely useful if you would!
Either a NAS (Network Attached Storage) if you have a broadband WiFi Gateway/Router with a spare 10/100 RJ45 port, or a USB 2.0 drive. I'm currently playing with my 2 Buffalo Technology ones (1.5TB NAS LinkStation Live, LS-CH1.5TL) with an encrypted, USB 2.0 drive (1.5 TB DriveStation, HD-CX1.5TU2) hanging off it, as I've been impressed by their WZR-RS-G54 bridge/gateway/routers' extensive and easily configured setup interface, of which I have two. If you're interested, go to http://www.buffalo-technology.com/products/ and research them, then eBuyer.com for the cheapest I could find.
HTTH
P.S. the NAS has Apple AFP support and the USB 2.0 drive is FAT32-formatted.
