Shame that isn't one

Canon and Nikon are pretty much interchangeable.

Sony are Konica Minolta re-branded.

Pentax are reliant on their high quality lenses rather than high-spec bodies.

All in all the only thing either Canon or Nikon have going for them is an excessive range of lenses.
Only thing Sony have is the amount of money they can plump into R&D.
Only thing Pentax have is that their optics are far superior to the others hence the smaller range of lenses.

You can spend full whack on any SLR...if you are just plain crap at photography then you won't take good shots.
Best camera in the world is one used by someone that knows how to use it!

I have a Nikon D5000, and it's a love/hate relationship. There are times when it refuses to take photos because I've not set it up correctly for the situation.

When I get it right it takes amazing pics, but I must admit there are times when I miss having a point+click digital camera! Sometimes you miss great pictures cause you're fiddling with menus!

I've got the standard 18-55mm VR lens, a 35mm F1.8 prime lens, and a speedlight. Got it all from Jessops on a 0% interest deal
