    Punto Mk1 Sporting

i have a punto mk1 sporting in broom yellow 1997 i brought this in october last year i am only 17 and havent got alot of cash, the car has been lowered by i think about 60mm or more and has an air filter the cheapest insurance quote i have found is £4000 an astronomical amount now also where the car has been lowered the under of the car is rusted and the exhaust bottoms out on some bumps is it worth putting the car on normal springs and does any1 know how much this would be and would it reduce the insurance or do i sell my pride and joy ???????? someone help

I'm sure you can get it cheaper.

Add another older driver to your insurance, like one of your parents, this usually decreases it a fair bit.

Well, changing to std. springs or not so low ones won't bring the quotes down by much, if any. At 17 you're in need of some assistance, either by having an older person as a named driver, or by trying a broker that specialises in young drivers with "performance" cars. Who have you tried? Also, this general subject has been covered a few times, try doing a search for "named driver" and the like.

Ah-ha Vic's beat me to it.

It's got nothing to do with that, why are they reluctant, you can put them on, they don't even have to drive the car, it will just be a named driver, and lower your insurance quite a bit. You wont be able to lose his NCB?

You can get up to £1k for a good sporting.

If you think that a sporting is a fast-ish car you're wrong, try going in a tubby car.

I would get someone added to your insurance to lower it and shop around.

Insurance is a killer on anything even moderately faster than a moped at our age, I'm 18 with no ncb and my punto85 is costing me 2,800 a year! And that's "standard" bar exhaust system and on Quinn! Group 6 though :-( think a sporting is group 7? Save up ;p
