I figure it'll be a case of "softly, softly, catchee monkey". i.e. take your time getting angles and alignment correct before inserting bolts and fully bolting up, when installing.

Erm, well took the car off the road in February and just had it with Punto's. Then i moved house and didn't have net for a while and now I am back :-)
The easiest way to put the engine back in without a crane imo is to remove the wheels and lower the chassis right to the floor. May need to get the engine up a few inches on some blocks first though.

True. Its not easy but can be done.
I havent tried this with a heavier Gt lump tho. This was only a 1.2.
I would say find a crane somewhere.
