they put a prohibitation order on the car, invalidated the mot, siezed it, it could only be taken away by truck/trailor to a pre-booked mot and never driven.
You can drive a car to an MoT station, regardless of tax - Aslong as it's insured.
If I was an MoT tester, and saw a car coming on truck, i'd think twice about putting it through an MoT.

I'm with the others, mainly because I got pulled for it too
Last week I took my car for it's mot, it's been of the road for nearly 14months, swapped my insurance on to it and drove it to the nearest mot station. Got to end of the road (opposite police station) and got pulled by one of the anpr cars, they asked why I was driving it so explained I was taking it for mot... they rang the test centre who confirmed it and then they let me on my way
It has to be the nearest test station might I add as well
