From my experience of polos they are sluggish.
Have you looked at a Audi A3 TDI Sport??
Due to changes etc I'm selling the teg in the next month or two and going to get something else.
It will only be a weekend car really, sitting in a garage most of the time. But since I can't afford something mental or fast enough to keep me happy I want to go down the more sensible route - diesel! Just want something cheap to run, tax, insure, and pleasant for longer drives ( as a lot of the car will be 100mile + motorway stints) - but still enough boot to satisfy me when needs be.
Ideally looking at spending 5k as more or less a straight swap for the teg price wise but would go a little higher for something worthwhile. Requirements are:
- Diesel
- Tidy enough inside and out
- Enough power to be pleasant to drive
- Newer the better obviously but anything from 2000 doesn't really phase me
Looked at 2005 1.9 Tdi polos as an option as I fit in them nicely and the 130 is a pretty decent engine - especially after a map but they are a bit over budget.
Anyone got any thoughts on here?

or the astra 1.9 cdti 16v 150 standard then with a £300 tuning box puts it strait up to 200bhp with no extra mods and it adapts to how you drive if you drive seniable it adpats the feul and makes more mpg so bonus and they look nice if you look around for the xp kit
Oh forgot to mention that really it needs to be under insurance group 10 now as well ('nuff said).
I didn't think i'd get an A3 for my price range that wasn't a heap?
Hmm, never thought astra either..
CLICKY
Theres some nice ones. I was looking for a A3 year and half ago, and found some nice ones with a budget of £6k
i'd say a bmw diesel
Well, you ginger nonce, you've either pranged it, or been caught speeding in it. Those are the only two reasons you'd want to sell a DC2 within 6 months of ownership..... and state you want something less than insurance group 10.
Whatever you buy that is fwd will be much less capable a car.
I've had the car over a year debo
I have points yeah but thats not affecting it I just imagine under group 10 is gonna be a fair bit cheaper? I'm moving to London and a lot of things are changing in my life including my car requirements. Do you think a teg is suited for 150 mile stints up the M1 and nothing else?
I'm aware its not going to be as fast or as responsive as the teg but not alot is going to be unless I pay a lot.
Thanks for the useless contribution though...
Points DO contribute to your insurance premium.
Nah, 150mile motorway journies are a ball ache, literally. lol.
Could've sworn you didn't get the Teg 3 months after me?! My mistake!
