My name is Craig and I am going to look at collecting a Mk2 1.2 16v Sporting today!
I was told about this forum so I thought I had better sign up and start absorbing your knowladge before I poke around and break something on it...
What would be useful though is an idea on what to look for when I take my tyre kicking look around it... Such as usual locations of rust, and specific engine noises to listen for etc...
She has issues starting and from all accounts its likely that the starter has died, how hard are these to repair?
Anyway, this is just the hello part of the forum so I will fire my questions at your search button before I panic lol!

Pretty much standard and in good nick too! Quite pleased with the find actually, although it's a slight step down from my current motor lol
The missus will love it though!

the MK2s are great cars, things to watch for are , gearbox (crunch into 2nd or 3rd), Power steering can be expensive to replace too, only place mine rusted was the underside of the bonnet.
I am on my second 1.2 16v and had no problems other than a second gear crunch on my old one but its still going strong.
What is your current motor?
