New Dash (2nd hand excellent condition)
GT - Dashboard Repair. DIY/Smart Repair/New Dash
Picked up the GT in October and am now getting round to sorting the interior.
New steering wheel going in, new plasic door sills, door handles, unbutchered fuse box cover, Abarth mats etc - making her real nice and factory feeling to sit in again, as opposed to the worn out/chavved up look when I collected her.
Have nearly got there with her now, but have a 2p sized hole in the dashboard in front of the driver side dash speaker - where previous owner fed wires for Boost gauge through (gauge now in glovebox out of sight).
Also around the radio there are a number of small but very noticable to me scratches where various headunits have been pulled/screwdriver'd in/out.
I am leaning towards a local company who do smart repairs on dashboards or do I get a repair kit and try to do it myself? I don't really fancy taking the whole dash out and there is no guarantee unless I get lucky the other dash would not be damaged??
What do you guys think??

Im a smart techy, ask to see a repair first, but it should be fine.
With the scratches... Try heating them with a heat gun, that's what I usually do first.
sicskate who do you work for? im a mobile repairer aswell, (although i wouldnt call it smart repair as i do full panel work)

Here is the 'hole' - not quite as large as I remember it and currently have my tweeter wire running through it (will be rerouted).
The scratches with my poor phone camera are barely visible but you get the idea.

Yes I have the boost gauge mounted in the glovebox in a pod. Got a small hole drilled and looks great. I'm not really into aftermarket interior add ons so I wanted a gauge more accurate than standard so I can set boost come chip time, but out of sight when I wanted it to be. For everyday driving the standard one is accurate enough - if I want to check the boost, I just flip the lid down and Voila!
get a pic up of the boost gauge in the glove box! as said before try heating the scratches
I work for a ford direct company called ambrosetti.
It's a smart repair centre and bodyshop.
We only do new/ used fords though.
