    They are way before the day's of 56k modems. I'm surprised it has a 28.8k. My old one had a 14.4k. lol

    I must admit I have two other pc's and two laptops at my disposal which are somewhat quicker.

    But for retro gaming the 486 is still perfect and I still enjoy using it.

    I forgot to add it also has a quad speed CD rom Drive - for its day (early 1994 as an eager 8 year old) that was quite something.

    Still have the odd 486-class machine here. I first went online with a 2nd hand Hayes 9600 SmartModem on Compuserve and with a 2.4x Toshiba caddy-loading 3401 CD-ROM (which was one of the earliest to support CD-DA and the SCSI extensions).

    Yes our first web provider was compuserve I believe it was in 1996.

    This machine is still the most trouble free and reliable (of our fleet).

    The daily hack in my bedroom is a P4 3.6 Ghz HT which handles ebay a whole lot better although Vista upsets me with its constant whineing for updates.
