it made a loud bang like hitting a sledge hammer on a steel wheel, if it is wishbone is it easy to repair roadside or is it garage job?

    thanks

as long as the bolts undo and ball joint comes out then they are easy to replace at road side.

wishbones are usually the things to bend cos they are only thin, but it could be lots of other things too.

I'd be looking at the wishbone myself, they're what normally get broken when people hit curbs in snow etc

You could try taking some rough measurements on both sides and comparing the results, no?
