Where abouts was this?
Full of the joys, I set off in my new Punto to Huddersfield this weekend to watch England v New Zealand rugby league, a nice 220 miles run.
And way hey! We won! Much to my surprise!
Anyway, stopped off to see a friend in Nottingham on the way back. Stopped and rang him and got directions. Anyway, I made a wrong turning so did a U-turn on what I thought was a deserted road, only to be met with a big bang!
Wing hanging off and some damage in the wheel/suspension/steering area. Looks like the front wheel itself took the brunt of the impact. My mate and his pal worked selflessly all through Sunday, jacked it up, removed the bumper and wheel, had a go at adjusting the track rod to try to lessen the damage, and actually made it much more driveable.
I took their advice and left it there at a local garage they recommended. It needs to be up on a ramp and to have a pro mechanic have a look and see if it's salvageable. I think it should be.
Of course, I'll probably have a 3rd party claim to contend with, but that's another story.
If it is salvageable, I'm going to need a wheel, a RH headlight unit, a Sporting bumper, and a driver's side front wing (pref black) (all in addition to any strut, hubs, wishbones, etc, that I may need). Luckily the driver's door and bonnet are unscathed.
So I'll be getting a report in a day or so from my mate, telling me what the garage boys up there reckon. Then we'll see where I go from there.
And I haven't even had the pay-out from my first claim yet!
Anyone breaking a black Sporting, please watch this space!
Ta.
By the ring road. Nuthall Road, to be precise.
Are you nearby, Superman? Got any alloys going begging?
The car is actually at a garage round the back of the Lion pub, if you know that.
Bevvy was selling his black sporting for parts on here in parts for sale on page 1 give him a buzz and see if he still has parts be a real plus if he still has it
Hi mate, sorry to hear about your punto, really unlucky as you've only just got it.
I do still have my sporting which i'm breaking.
PM me any parts you may require, although the wings and bumpers are gone.
cheers
bleedy hell mate, atleast your alright and no one else was hurt
what a place to leave it, teaches you right imo, next time u will drive how u was shown to, what would u of done it it was a bike u hit? coulda been lookin at alot worse!!
to many idiots on the road!!
+1 Agreed!
Let's not see the following comments; well bikes and drivers should be looking and predicting when someone is about to U-turn... it happened to my old instructor when a royal mail van did the same deed. Bike written off, arm broke and unable to instruct for weeks. Just take 3 lefts and you're back where you started.
