    Any mechanics in mk?

    Hey all,

I've just purchased a 1.6 N reg sportive and it needs both the clutch and fan belt replacing. I've been quotted £210 but wondering if anyone here would do it for beer? Or is that a good price?

if you are planning on keeping the car it may be worth supplying your own clutch, mr clutch usually use remanufactured clutches which last about 30,000 miles compared to a sachs/valeo/luk which will last about 70-80,000.

my sporting had a new clutch at mr clutch and i think it was about 20,000 miles later it needed another.

That's good to know. I've taken advice from here and bought a Valeo clutch. Getting it fitted on Tuesday, and looking forward to a big improvement!

Came out with a whining pas belt. They said the new aux belt they fitted needed to bed in (they oiled it n 3weeks later it was finger loose) then within 500miles the clutch master cylinder failed (damaged when try removed it).
The whole experience was a disaster. They wouldn't admit fault and tried to gib me off time and time again.

Note to all: they are cheap for a reason... They are s^*t
I wish I had gone else where....

I thought they should of changed the tentioner even if it had cost more. I phoned the head office and they took the garages side.
I went to watch dog in the end....
Oh, my pas wasn't whining before I ad the aux belt fitted. Could it be a tentioner that's whining and not the pas pump as they said..,
