PS3 laser

Hi All

Hope someone can help,

Ive been given a PS3 but it needs a new laser. Could I do this myself as I don't want to pay a warranty fee from Sony.

Either that or does anyone know of a loop hole Regulation regarding the warranty of electric goods to void a payment.

There was that 10 year warrenty thing on all items that the sellers never tell you about but i dont think anybody has been seccessful using it on the ps3. So if you dont do it your self its £130 i think

As for the laser, is it the lens it self or the whole unit?

There are plenty of picture how to's on the net for taking the thing to bits

a quick google search shows its about £50 for the replacement laser, it just depends how good you are with your hands mike....

PS2 Lasers were easy enough to replace there usually youtube vids with step by step processes for these types of things, or if you good with your gab you could trade it in for a slimline for like £40?

Have a search for YLOD to, just in case they think it was the laser but it was this.
