Power is not everything. GT's have trolley wheels on and spin up constantly. My GTi had so much more grip.

The 1.6 16v engine seems to rev for fun and get through the range very quickly.

That is without mentioning the weight advantage and the far superior handling. Driving on the twistys was much more fun in the 106, however abit'o'boost made the punto a great car in a straight line.

I also seem to remember that a VTS has a fast 0-60 time than a GTi aswell.

Im not a massive fan of french cars but after owning one I do have some respect for them. I wouldnt have another one though.

were back to comparing a standard car, VS a modded punto again.

Lets throw £1000 at the saxo, even it up abit, and then start the same thread again.

Matt, please work on your typing skills!

The end of the day, you may have better power figures. Get your launch wrong though and its game over.

...and whats that 1k going to get you to make it as competitive (in a straight line of course)

so for 1k, you can get TB's management, fuel regs + whatever else is needed to make it 200bhp etc?

    Strip it - £0
Straight through race exhaust - £200
    4-2-1 manifold - £360
    Potential bhp around 140bhp.

With cams and fitting with remap your looking around 165bhp - 170bhp.

Itll be quick in a straight line then

Gone over budget a little, but around £1500 wil give you 160bhp - 170bhp easily.

If your just looking at the 1k mark, you could probably get around 150bhp. Which will still be lively.

Im just getting the the age old thing of comparing a modded 227bhp punto, to a standard VTS.

You know as well as i do the punto will be quick in a straight line, but throw the same money at the saxo that the punto has had, and then start a new thread.

    Get my point?
