Mobile phone contracted cancelled after renewal

Well i'l try and make this simple.

June 1st rang orange regarding upgrade, they want £491 for the new samsung omnia i8910 HD. Told them i would cancell, they sent out 28day notifaction of termination of contract.

June 24 Phones 4 U finally get hold of an omnia after 3 weeks of waiting. They persauded me to upgrade current contract and get hanset for free. Which i did, £31.50 a month for 18months.

June 25 replaced old sim card for new one as old had now expired.

July 1st 14.00 - Mobile has no signal, (strange normally full at home) Mate tries ringing and gets message its disconnected. I try logging onto orange online and get told its not recognised. Then rang orange and got told the number is not in use and has been disconnected, i get him to confirm that there will be no further cost or bills from this contract and number. (Confirmed 3 times)

Put phone down, so now i have a brand new omnia HD (£538 in phones 4 u) and a disconnected contract, quickly log onto bank online and find the last months bill for xxxx amount has been paid, so then cancelled direct debit as said by orange consultant, "no further cost will be incurred" also cancel insurance on phone.

So as far as orange are concerned the contract is dead and disconnected, phones for you aren't bother and insurance is cancelled. Does this mean i have got a free phone? Plus another free phone when i take a new contract out?

    Whats your take on this?

Sweet - Get it on eBay !

Or go PAYG, it's cheaper, plus you have a decent phone !

they canceled the contract so you should keep the phone.

if you canceled mid contract you would still have to pay the rest of the contract you had left

    so alls fair
