could need rear axle refurbing they are prone to going apparently, when you stand at the rear of the car do the wheels look true no leaning or anything like that?
hi, my mum has a 1.4 clio 1995
theres a clunking noise coming from the rear drivers side when you go over a bump. sounds like a dull metal hitting metal noise
ive had it jacked up and checked the shocks and thier fine, a bit old but fine the car dosent bounce when pushed down it just settles
it has a torsion bar which im not too clued up about
any ideas
another thing she says is when she brakes she can hear a scraping noise from one of the front brakes
ive stripped them all down and cleaned them up but it still does it, disks are fine same with pads and theres no gaurd behind the disk that could be scraping

the wheels sit fine, not pointing in or out or any camber off
trailing arm bushes.
iv had it jacked up and used a large pole to check for movement in the bushes and theres none, it dosent sound like a bush too loud a clonk to be a bush
Snapped spring?
you would be suprised, when mine went..
jack it up...
lift the wheel up if ya get me? like try and lift it into the arches, will probably be hard to do it, but could still be the bush.
my old 106, you could move the wheel 3-4 inches! but you really had to put effort in
it has no springs its a torsion bar
that was the first thing i checked i was like wtf theres none
